Don’t let the Sunday Scaries ruin what should be the best day of your week! I know for many of you Sunday is the day when the overwhelm creeps back in as you come to terms that your weekend is just about over. Over the last few years, I’ve been working on my Sunday routine, I’ve learned to use it as a day to relax, and to get clear on the week ahead.
I suggest getting the whole family involved if that is possible. For our family this is really the only day when school is in session that our whole family can spend the day today. Which is why I have worked very hard to protect this time.
Sundays start out slow for us, grabbing a cup of coffee, feeding the dogs, and most recently making sure our Blue Jay bird feeder has nuts in it. (We love watching them in the mornings.) We get ready and head off to Church, but once we come home that is when I say the magic of this Sunday routine starts.
Here’s typically what my Sunday Routine Looks like:
Cleaning:
We typically try to stay pretty caught up on cleaning throughout the week and I use Saturdays to get a big chunk of this knocked out. But having a fresh slate on Sundays helps calm my mind for the week ahead. So I make a small list of anything needed to get finished up, this typically is finish up on Laundry and a light sweeping. I also deep clean my office so that I have a fresh clean space to work in.
Planning:
I use my calendar to plan out the week ahead, writing out my work schedule, any important family events for that week, and a list of anything that I must do for the week ahead. Planning out dinners for the week and prepping the boys lunches.
Miscellaneous Items:
Once we have this done, we either order our groceries, or head off the store to pick up whatever we night need for the week ahead. (Bonus Tip: If you have an Alexa Devices she will easily keeps a running Shopping list for you that you can add items to as you find yourself knowing you need them.)
And now we relax!
Extra Tip for Busy moms: Cook a crockpot meal on Sundays, this way you are not cooking and doing major kitchen cleaning at night and you can truly enjoy your time with your family.
