Who do you think of when it comes to that person that always seems to be productive?

We all have someone in our life. You know the one who color-codes everything, never procrastinates, and just always seem to have their stuff together.

Becoming more productive is not impossible, and YES even you can be more productive.

There are days when my to-do list feels like it’s 10 miles long. Days when I feel like there is not enough hours in the day to get everything done. For those of you who might know me personally this may be hard to believe. Yes, even I still have days that I feel like I have lost control and have no idea how I will get everything I committed myself to done.

I want to share with you some of my biggest productivity hacks. I want this year to be the year you look back and feel a sense of accomplishment. It starts with examining your own life, determining who you want to be and where you want to go. Once you figure that out, managing that to-do list will get easier. I promise.

Have a Morning Routine:

Make your mornings all about you! Get up a bit earlier then everyone in your house. You don’t have to go crazy here at first, start with 20 min and go from there. Use this time to focus on yourself. Read, Pray, or even a small workout, are always great places to start when creating a Morning Routine.

Set your Intentions for the Day:

Before you open your phone or computer, take a few minutes each day and write down how you want the day to do. Make decisions like you will have a positive attitude regardless of what life seems to throw at you, can make all the difference in the world. Get clear with yourself on how you want the day to do.

Manage your Peak Productivity Hours:

Determine when you have the most energy and motivation. This time will be different for everyone, for some of us its first thing in the morning, some it is earlier afternoon, and for others it is late at night. Also keep in mind these Peak Productivity Hours can change depending on the season you are in. For me I used to be a total night owl, creativity peaked as the Sun went down. Recently I have found my creativity and energy seems to be at its peak mid-day to early afternoon. Which is why I tend to take care of my hardest task now during those hours.

Regularly Review your Goals and Priorities:

Reviewing both you long- and short-term goals regularly is important. It helps not just with your motivation but also to stay focused on where you are going. Begin each day by determining what your top 3 priorities are. Write them out when you are writing out your intentions for the day.

Minimize Distractions:

Let’s face it, distractions are everywhere these days. Utilizing Peak Production hours make it your goal to comment completing your Top 3 priorities before checking your email, scrolling Facebook, or even replying to messages. Set boundaries with distractions and people if you need to. Sometimes you have to say NO so that you can show up for yourself and become the person that you want to be.

Make over your Workspace:

Take a good look at your workspace – is it setup to help you stay focused and do your best work? Does it motivate or inspire you? If you answered no to either of these it’s time to change things up. Check out my Post on Home Office Must Haves.

When it comes to making over your workspace my first suggestion is so start by decluttering and organizing as much as possible. Next is the fun part 😉 redecorating, if you work from a cubical you may be limited here. My suggestion is to have at least one item on your desk that reminds you about your WHY.

Develop Systems and Routines:

Decision fatigue is a real thing and can rob you of what energy you may have left to stay focused and get a job completed. When you have systems and routines in place you allow you mind the freedom to focus on what really matters instead of what to do next. Time blocking your day is a great way to start developing systems for your day. Don’t get to hung up at first as you will find the first few weeks you try this you will have to tweak and move things around until you find what works best for you.

Bonus Tip: Take some breaks: Do some good things for yourself during the day. This will help to keep your mind fresh and alert to help you stay productive.

I would love to know what helps you stay productive throughout the day!
